Submission Rules
Submission Rules

1. All submissions must be accompanied by a complete disclaimer. If a suitable disclaimer is not included, the site admins reserve the right to add a disclaimer. Repeat offenders may be subject to further action, up to and including removal of stories and account.

Sample Disclaimer
Disclaimer: All publicly recognizable characters, settings, etc. are the property of their respective owners. The original characters and plot are the property of the author. The author is in no way associated with the owners, creators, or producers of any media franchise. No copyright infringement is intended.

2. Stories must be submitted to the proper category. If there is an appropriate sub-category, DO NOT add your story to the main category. All top-level categories are locked. The submission form allows you to choose multiple categories for your story, and we worked very hard to add that functionality for you. Please do not add your story multiple times.
2a. Your admins have only so many hours in the day; therefore, we are sadly unaware of the minutia of all categories on this site. Should you have a category or a character you think should be added, please let us know. If we see large numbers of something that has no category coming in, we'll add a category for it.
2b. We're aware not everyone reads outside their OTP. However, we cannot support the number of hours required to input pairings as categories at this time, nor can we support the limiting of character listings to only characters involved in the major OTPs of a fandom. If we could comb through the Gossamer archives looking for that one Scully/Skinner story hidden among hundreds of MSR fics, then you can use the advanced search function and risk coming across something that's not your OTP. (Blah, blah, blah, back in the fannish day, uphill, through the snow, both ways, with no shoes. Etc.)

3. Speaking of categories, let's talk about warnings. If your story contains het or boyslash content, whether as part of a threesome or a genderswap of canon male characters, please warn for it. Your friendly neighborhood admin team has nothing against any of the above (and probably some stories posted in there), but this is a femslash site. Let's just make sure everyone knows what they're getting into. In addition, you should warn for anything we have a listing for. Dubcon, noncon, graphic violence, torture, whatever. If it could be triggery or someone else's squick, add a warning for it. Please respect everyone who doesn't wish to read these kinds of stories by labelling appropriately.
3a. We are completely and totally aware that warning and labelling debates have been going on since fandom began, back during the Ice Age, when Kirk and Spock ruled the land, and your choices for femslash in fandom were limited to Uhura/Chapel or Uhura/Number One. The side your mods have come down on is 'better safe than sorry.'

4. Titles and summaries must be kid friendly and work safe. No exceptions.

5. "Please read," "Untitled," and the like are not acceptable titles or summaries. Requests for feedback will be either summarily edited out and/or result in your story being deleted.

6. A number of authors have requested that fans refrain from writing fan fiction based on their work. Therefore, submissions will not be accepted based on the works of the following authors: P.N. Elrod, Raymond E. Feist, Terry Goodkind, Laurell K. Hamilton, Anne McCaffrey, Robin McKinley, Irene Radford, Anne Rice, Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb, and Chelsea Quinn Yarbro.
6a. RPF/RPS is allowed. Please treat the subjects in a respectful fashion.

7. Correct grammar and spelling are expected of all stories submitted to this site. The site administrators aren't going to crack open a Strunk & White and point out your lack of an Oxford comma (though they are, in fact, supporters of the Oxford comma); however, the site admins do reserve the right to request corrections in submissions with a multitude of grammar and spelling errors. If such a request is ignored, the story will be deleted.
7a. Your admins strongly recommend putting all stories through a spell and grammar checker on your word processing program.

8. Characterization. We long for good characterization. However, with a multifandom archive, it becomes impossible for us to see everything, and be aware of what's good characterization and what's awful. We'll be modding for characterization that we know, and relying on user reports for characterization that we're unfamiliar with.

9. All stories containing adults having intercourse (or other sexual situations) with minors are strictly forbidden. This means that if you feel you truly need to write that Hermione Granger/Ginny Weasley kinkfest PWP of doom, you need to age them up. If something slips by and is posted, we will remove it immediately upon user complaint.
9a. Stories containing depictions of any form of illegal (or unintelligent) behavior are not meant to condone or advocate that behavior in real life. The admins do not encourage anyone to go out and do anything they see in fiction posted to this site.

10. Concrit is a wonderful, beautiful thing, and your admins encourage it. We encourage everyone to give feedback and constructive criticism in a positive way. Flaming and abusive behavior in the feedback forms will not be tolerated.

11. Stories with multiple chapters should be archived as such, and NEVER as separate stories. Upload the first chapter of your story, then go to Manage Stories in your Account Info settings in order to add additional chapters. If you have trouble with this, please contact the site administrators, or ask a friend to help you.
11a. Multiple stories that are part of one series, or part of a shared universe, are, of course, something else entirely. For that, you will need to create a new series on the site. This can also be done through the Account Info page.

12. As much as possible, spoiler warnings are expected on all stories. For categories with serialized content, such as series of books or television series, spoilers are mandatory for the current season and/or most recent part. An appropriate spoiler warning to place in your summary would be: Spoilers for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. DO NOT write a summary as follows: Spoilers for the one where Spock dies.

Submissions found to be in violation of these rules may be edited or removed, and the author's account may be suspended at the discretion of the site administrators and/or moderators. The site admins are the sole arbiters of all interpretations of the rules. The site admins reserve the right to modify these rules as needed.
